Jo is an experienced exercise specialist with a strong focus on supporting clients with physical and mental health conditions. Her practice combines trauma-informed strength training, rehabilitation support, and evidence-based exercise prescription to improve function, wellbeing, and resilience.
Jo began her career in 2019 as a group fitness and personal training instructor, quickly developing a specialism in working with clients experiencing mental health challenges, injuries, and long-term conditions. She has worked extensively as a rehabilitation assistant, providing tailored exercise interventions for individuals living with life-altering injuries and disabilities. She also delivers exercise on referral programs, supporting clients to improve strength, mobility, and overall health safely and effectively.
In parallel, Jo has trained in trauma-informed approaches to exercise, becoming a certified TIWL (Trauma Informed Weightlifting) practitioner and contributing as guest faculty to TIWL training cohorts. She is currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Trauma (Level 7), which underpins her ability to work safely and knowledgeably with clients experiencing complex mental health challenges.
Jo’s qualifications also include a Diploma in Personal Training, a Diploma in Exercise on Referral, Level 2 awards in Gym Instruction and Spin, and an Award in Counselling Concepts (Level 2). These combine to support her person-centred approach, ensuring that all exercise programmes are evidence-informed, realistic, and tailored to the client’s lived experience.
Jo believes that exercise is a powerful tool for recovery and wellbeing — when delivered safely, meaningfully, and collaboratively, it can support long-term physical and mental health, independence, and quality of life.
