Fiona enjoys working with individuals to help improve health and fitness - both in the gym and the great outdoors.
Fiona is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral Practitioner with a Level 4 qualification in Physical Activity and Lifestyle Strategies for Managing Low Back Pain.
She has worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years and has supported a variety of clients with conditions ranging from Parkinsons, various bone and joint issues, heart attacks and strokes.
Fiona is also a level 3 Mat based Pilates instructor with additional training in Pilates for Common Orthopaedic Conditions. Many of the gentler Pilates’s exercises may be incorporated into sessions. The slow and controlled movements (typical of Pilates) help to isolate and strengthen various muscle groups as well as helping to improve range of movement around joints. Many of the exercises mirror those provided by Physio and Occupational Therapists for a wide variety of conditions.
Fiona is especially aware of the importance of maintaining muscle mass and bone density and strength and resistance training exercises are incorporated in all sessions by using body weight or free weights.
With a caring and empathic approach, Fiona really hopes to motivate and inspire individuals to make great progress with their exercise programmes.
