Joanne’s journey in the field of rehabilitation began 2002 with the completion of
Exercise to Music qualification, igniting a passion for the power of movement in
promoting health and recovery. This was further enriched in 2005 with the attainment
of the sports massage qualification, providing valuable hands-on skills with
addressing musculoskeletal imbalances and facilitating tissue healing.
Building upon this foundation Joanne pursued a Health Science qualification at
Leeds University completing in 2011. This academic qualification provided a
comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles underpinning health and
disease, equipping her with the knowledge necessary to excel in the rehabilitation
sector.
The experience Joanne gained from the Health Science qualification allowed her to
work directly with individuals in the NHS navigating diverse rehabilitation journeys.
She had the privilege of supporting stroke survivors, and patients recovering from hip
and knee replacement. Joanne also had the privilege of assisting individuals with
cardiovascular and neurology issues. This diverse experience has provided her with
a comprehensive understanding of rehabilitation needs and the importance of a
holistic approach to care.
Joanne’s commitment to continuous professional development is evident in the
further qualifications she has achieved. In 2007 she became a qualified gym
instructor, followed by the comprehensive personal trainer qualification in 2009,
allowing her to design and implement highly tailored exercises programs. Her skills
expanded further with the completion of Kinesio Taping training 2009, Yoga training
2014, and Pilates training adding versatile and effective modalities to her
rehabilitation toolkit. Demonstrating a dedication to providing specialized care,
Joanne completed the Cancer Exercise Specialist Training and GP Referral in 2025,
further enhancing her ability to support individuals with specific health needs.
For the last 22 years Joanne has worked within the fitness and rehabilitation industry
using a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to rehabilitation. She
understands that every individual’s recovery is unique, and she provides tailored
programs that draw upon a diverse range of therapeutic techniques to address
specific goals and needs while empowering the client to actively participate in the
rehabilitation journey, fostering independence and long- term well-being.
This year her expertise will further enhance with the completion of the Level 4
Neurological Conditioning Exercise Training and British Heart Foundation
Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist training, solidifying
her ability to support individuals with complex neurological and cardiovascular
conditions.
