BSc Occupational Therapy;

PGDip Neurorehabilitation

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist with First Class Honours from Brunel University, London in 2004 and went on to work in different settings including acute NHS hospitals, the community, and specialist rehabilitation centres.  I have worked in a range of clinical specialities including acute and rehabilitation services for neurology, general rehabilitation, orthopaedics, older adults, paediatrics and mental health services. I have also worked in A&E, Intensive Care and cardiology. This full repertoire of experience has meant that I am experienced in dealing with a wide range of conditions and have a good understanding of how these can affect a person's ability to live day-to-day life.

For the majority of my career, I have focused on developing my specialist skills in working with clients with neurological conditions, and providing rehabilitation to this complex client group. This is because I find it interesting and enjoy the challenges associated with working with this group of people.

I decided to leave statutory services in 2011, due to an increasing frustration that I was being constrained by limitations placed on me by the service and a strong desire to be able to provide a more holistic type of occupational therapy to my clients. I was keen to fully use the knowledge and skills I had gained in my career, to enable me to provide optimum therapy and the best possible outcomes for my clients. Ultimately, this lead to me working as an independent Occupational Therapist, and Case Manager.

I continue to work on developing my skills and knowledge by attending relevant specialist training, conferences and meeting with colleagues for peer support. I am also a member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Sections in Neurology, and Independent Practice.

I am registered with the British Association of Occupational Therapists, the Health and  Care Professions Council and as a data controller under the Information Commissioners Office. I have a clear Enhanced DBS certificate and full professional indemnity insurance. I have experience of working in the medico-legal field as both an Occupational Therapist, and via my work as a Case Manager.
